Do you know when was the last time Granada C.F played in La Liga, well, it was long before I was born, back in 1975/76 season. It was the golden age of the club as they had eight top flight seasons, and finished sixth place in two of the seasons. Last season, the team managed to secure fifth place in the Segunda División and earned themselves a play-off. They defeated Celta de Vigo (1–1, won penalty shootout) and Elche CF (1–1 on aggregate, won in away goals), then got their promotion.
You may have realized Granada squad has quite a few Udinese players, thanks to chairman Quique Pina for signing a partnership agreement with the Italian side, the influx of these players had definitely boosted the club’s performance. These players including last season club top scorer Alexandre Geijo, who will remain at the club and go on his La Liga journey. Other players loaned by Udinese you may want to keep an eye on, included Dani Benítez, Jaime Romero, Odion Ighalo and Allan Nyom. Captain of the team is Manuel Lucena, who is a defender.
Like we have mentioned yesterday, the club will play another new face in La Liga, Real Betis, IF the strike stopped, but the fixtures are highly in doubts. Granada CF may not look convincing in remaining at the top league, but they did not earn this promotion easily, so we are sure they will put up a fight for it!
