Senior Shield Final: Sun Hei vs SCAA

Yesterday was a match day, and after being away from local football for a couple weeks, we CANNOT miss this final. It is the first final of the season, Senior Shield Final between Sun Hei and SCAA. The game was played in Hong Kong Stadium yesterday, these two teams played a very exciting final despite the cold and windy weather.

Hong Kong Wins the Cup after Rare Penalty Shootout

Although we were unable to follow the team to China, we were supporting them in front of our computers during the game. We are glad that Hong Kong team managed to bring home the trophy after 120 minutes and a rare penalty shootout.

Guangdong-Hong Kong Cup 1st Leg: Hong Kong 2-2 Guangdong

Although Hong Kong stadium wasn’t full last night, the atmosphere was awesome. Hong Kong fans never stop cheering for their team and when the team scored, a lot of people stand up and applauded. The atmosphere had made my friend who entered the stadium for the first time, feeling warm and excited. For me and other friends who didn’t watch Hong Kong football for quite some times, we felt the excitements and were cheering with everyone else as well.

What Did We Miss?! Suspensions, New Twitter Account and more…

Yes yes, internet connection was downed for so long which kept us away from important football news!

1. Luis Suarez Suspensions

Apparently everyone was talking about Suarez’s suspensions lately and no, we are not too late. The racism incident has led to 8 matches suspension but Liverpool is appealing, so Suarez could still play in the previous game. However, the middle finger incident has given him an additional one match ban with immediate effect, so you will not see Suarez in the upcoming Liverpool game. If the appeal fails, there will be total of 9 matches suspension for Suarez, and I am sure this will give Dalglish some headaches.

AFC Cup Draw: For Your Information

We are at the draw for obvious reason, because two of our local league teams, Kitchee and Citizen will be participating in AFC Cup 2012. After hearing a lot of A1, C2, B4, and quite a number of clubs that we never heard of (sorry about that!), the groups are as shown in the picture (You can click to enlarge).

All The Way Back to Football: The Story of Citizen Player, Michael Campion

Most people use the amount of money they earn, to measure their success in career, but this does not apply to Michael Campion, a footballer playing for The Citizen Athletic Association Limited, a club in Hong Kong bma 1^st Division Football League.

There is a connection between Campion and football ever since he could remember. ‘Since I was old enough to stand up is probably the correct answer, but I first started getting proper coaching when I was around seven or eight years old.’ His father was the first person who brought him to the field and this connection has never been broken.

Unlike other English kids who could be able to begin their football career at early age, being born and raised in Hong Kong had given Campion a different kind of pressure. ‘Education is very important for old parents, my parents really wanted me to go to university and get a proper education first,’ Campion explained. So despite went for trials at England clubs like Derby County and Nottingham Forest at age 16, he did not sign for any of them. ‘When you were age 16, you didn’t know what you want, but I could have maybe put up more of a fight,’ a bit of regret was there in Campion’s voice, now ten years later, he knows that was the thing that he should have fought for.

10 Days in Hong Kong: With Plenty of Football

We know we were gone for a long time, having fun in our hometown but now we are back from holiday and everything will resume to normal. Blog will be updated regularly according to schedule, from Monday to Thursday, then Saturday and Sunday. 

Here we are going to share what we have done in our ten days holiday, it began with an amazing wedding filled with Manchester United. Our friends Bob and Karen finally tied the knot and present us with a wedding full of Manchester United, as the two were both United fans and knew each other because of their love for United! Congrats again to the lovely couple! =)

Citizen players celebrated their first goal by snatching photographer’s camera and took their own picture. Although Tuen Mun managed to get an equalizer at the beginning of second half, Citizen went on to win the game by scoring a penalty near the end of the game, and this time, they celebrated by ‘playing golf’. Creative huh? And no, they didn’t practice that during training.

Feature: Why Hong Kong Football Needs More Support Than Booing?

In the recent Barclays Asia Trophy, I have heard different voices on Hong Kong football. It is understandable that the England press said something like, Torres is definitely going to score against Kitchee, because it simply looked very easy to put the ball in the back of Kitchee's net (But he ended up scoring his precious goal against Aston Villa). Yes, our team is not good enough to play against English clubs and we are not going to argue on that. But what I don't understand is, friends went to the stadium and came back telling me many Hong Kong people were criticizing Kitchee throughout the game.

Hong Kong National Team Leaves for Saudi Arabia Tomorrow

Hong Kong will face Saudi Arabia in the coming World Cup Qualifying match, and the team will leave for Saudi Arabia tomorrow to prepare for the away game on 24th July.
