Have You Met Andre Villas-Boas?

Surely you recognize the man in the picture, he is the man that we are going to talk about today. The obvious facts are, he is the new Chelsea manager; he is Portuguese; he is young and people see him as ‘Mourinho the second’. What else do you know about him?
You know when we said young, it means he is only one year older than some players in his team, Lampard and Drogba. For Abramovich to hire someone so young, there must be good reasons, and yes there are plenty of them.
Villas-Boas is young, but he has proved that he is capable as a manager during his time at Porto. He helped Porto won the UEFA Europa League last season and become the youngest manager to win a European title. Porto also won the Primeira Liga (domestic league) and Portuguese Cup under Villas-Boas last season.
In fact, Stanford Bridge is not a new place for Villas-Boas. He worked under Jose Mourinho when Mourinho was the manager of Chelsea. He also followed him to Inter Milan, working as a scout under him (His job was to access opposition teams, well, that sounded more like spy to us :p). Some people say he is inexperienced, it is true in the sense when you compare him to other Premier League managers like Arsense Wenger, Alex Ferguson, even Kenny Dalglish. Being under Mourinho for so long, we believe he had seen enough of the Leagues. But of course, as Ferguson pointed out earlier, EPL can be a big challenge to him, as he has many competitors and some are really experienced managers.
Chelsea succeed under Mourinho and Villas-Boas style is very much like his. By hiring him, we can tell Abramovich is hungry for another ‘Mou’s glory’.
Ans for yesterday’s picture: Messi is the boy at the front row, first from left. Wasn’t he lovely?
