Feature: Where Should David Villa Go?

Is David Villa’s time with Barcelona comes to an end?

Transfer window will soon be reopened and many Spanish press have been talking about the future of David Villa. The Spanish top scorer of all time was on the bench during El Clasico and was only given less than 10 minutes time to play. In the game against Levante, David Villa was an unused substitute. When a striker like him, spent more time on the bench than on the field, his future of course becomes a question mark.

The arrivals of Cesc Fabregas and Alexis Sanchez have threatened el Guaje’s position in the first team. Let’s ignore whether it is true that he has some problems with Messi, but the formation that Guadiola uses to fit Fabregas into the team, just doesn’t work for Villa. He still scores, but it is not hard to tell that he is not comfortable with his position.

Somehow it is sad to see the Guaje being treated similarly as his Spain teammate, Fernando Torres. No offense but when Torres has been playing like this and still being given chances, I just think David Villa should deserve better than this. It is such a waste to put him on the bench when other clubs are in needs of striker like him to be on the pitch!

Rumors have linked him with Chelsea, Liverpool and Aston Villa so far, and I think Chelsea will be a good place for him. With Anelka gone, Torres not scoring goals (looks like Chelsea wants to get rid of him too) and Drogba is aging, Chelsea will need a world class striker to help them challenge the two Manchester teams. An all-rounded goal scoring machine like David Villa is what they need to reclaim the title. Since him and Mata were ex-teammates, it will also save sometimes for the Guaje to fit in.

Liverpool can be another place David Villa can go, but the chances for him to play in Champions Leaugue next season is slim. Aston Villa? Well, no offenses to all their fans but he deserves better. Of course there will be many other clubs willing to fight for him once Barcelona gives green light for his transfer, but I think Chelsea will be a good option. Staying in Barcelona, however, will be the worst, as Euro 2012 is around the corner, David Villa should be on the field as much as he can, because he will be vital to the team if they want to claim the title again! In this case, most teams will be able to provide that (for him to play regularly in the first team), but Barcelona.
