Some Transfer Rumors Before Transfer Window Closed

I think football fans won’t care much about other news than the transfer market, for today. So here we are going to sum up some transfers that happened lately and possible transfers that may happen the last minute. You ready for it?

chu-young park, arsenal, transfer

I think who Arsenal will sign is the main concern for everyone, Gunners and non-Gunners. So far they have signed Chu Young Park, the South Korea national team Captain.

Andre Santos, Fenerbahce left back has had his medical, so we can almost confirm he will join Arsenal.

Arteta may be on the move too, according to several English papers.

And, Yossi Benayoun is a possibility too, according to ESPN.

Picture of The Day: What Fabregas Learnt From Villa

cesc, fabregas, goal, barcelona, villarreal, celebrate
Villa, David Villa, Paraguay, World Cup, El guajeYeah, we are aware of the fact that we have been sharing too many Cescy pictures lately. But these joyful pictures really cheered us up when work is piling up. And you are right, Fabregas scored again, in his first La Liga game with Barcelona last night, against Villarreal. Cesc started in the game, together with Alexis Sanchez and both of them scored their first La Liga goal for Barcelona. Barcelona won the game with 5-0, Messi scored another two goals and Thiago contributed one. But what we want to share today, is this celebration, does this ‘overturned’ Fabregas ring a bell?

Yes, it reminded us of El Guaje’s celebration in the World Cup quarter-finals, against Paraguay, and we think David Villa did it better. ;) We are tempted to do a Top 10 goal celebrations post. Any suggestions?

Picture of The Day: Safety Glasses

Anti, Mourinho, GlassesAfter our long wait, La Liga entered the second match day last night. And this Real Zaragoza fan apparently learnt a lesson from the El Clasico, so he wore a ‘safety glasses’ to protect his eyes from Mourinho. ‘Gafas Anti Mou’, means ‘Anti-Mou glasses’. Sadly he cannot protect his team from losing, Zaragoza lost 0-6 to Real Madrid. Cristiano Ronaldo hat-trick with Kaka, Marcelo and Alonso each scored one goal. A loud and clear message from Ronaldo saying ‘Bring it on, Messi.’ Last season, Messi failed to win the top scorer even with 31 goals, as Ronaldo scored 40. The World-best-footballer battle will definitely continue this season. Barcelona will play Villarreal at home later today. Who do you think will be La Liga top scorer this season? Ronaldo or Messi?

Guys, we are really sorry about yesterday for not updating, as Wordpress didn’t allow me to publish new post. To avoid you from checking back every hour, follow us on Twitter for our latest updates and frustrations! =)

Feature: Will Arsenal Survive?

The beginning of this season seems to be tough for Arsenal, after facing Liverpool at home last week, they just played Manchester United in Old Trafford yesterday. With Nasri just gone to Manchester City, many doubts raised, from the fans especially, questioning Wenger’s capabilities as a manager. Yes, it is true that Arsenal did not win any trophy in six years; it is also true that departure of Fabragas and Nasri may reduce the strength of the team, but do these mean Arsenal will not be able to survive, and they have already lost the battle in winning anything this season? I don’t really think so.

Another Trophies for Barcelona and more..

UEFAsupercup(zimbio)
Oh Cesc, of course we can feel your happiness! Two goals and three trophies in three games. Who can ask for more? La Liga is only starting tonight and Barcelona already won two important trophies, Spanish Super Cup and UEFA Super Cup. No offense but Joan Gamper trophy just not as important as these two. The team played against Porto last night for UEFA Super Cup and won by two goals, one by Messiah and Fabregas sealed the game. Not sure how Wenger thinks about this, but probably he thinks his team can lift some trophies even with Fabragas and Nasri gone as he didn’t do anything in the transfer market yet.

Picture of The Day: Another Trophy for Fabregas

cescbarca(daylife_ap)

In his debut for Barcelona, he created the winning goal and helped Barca won the Spanish Super Cup. His second match last night against Napoli, Fabregas scored the opening goal, which is also his first goal for Barcelona and started the goal feast. The game ended with a 5-0 scoreline and Barcelona won the Joan Gamper trophy. Two trophies in two games, we bet Cesc is lovin’ it!

Picture of The Day: Tevez is Back!

tevez(daylife_getty)

Look who is back with the team?! Despite all the rumors about Tevez leaving Man City, the player is now back with the team. Replaced Aguero at 68 minutes in the game against Bolton last night. The game ended with a 2-3 scoreline, City managed to claim their 2nd victory at Reebok stadium.

Although City proved they can do just fine without Tevez for the last two games, it is always better to have more players in hand. We really have an opinion about this new away shirt though, last night we kept thinking we’re actually watching the Italy Series A.

Feature: Why Goalkeepers Often Being Underrated?

The debate about goalkeeper or defenders being underrated has been going on for many years, but let’s put the defenders aside for today, and focus on the goalkeepers.

There are two schools of thought on how can a team be successful, one emphasizes the importance in attacking, that a team needs to be good in scoring goals to win trophies, which, was challenged by Paraguay in COPA 2011. The other one emphasizes on defense, it suggests a team cannot success without good defending system. Although most people enjoys watching the more entertaining attacking football, one cannot deny that in contemporary football world, the latter fits the situation better. Manchester United wouldn’t have won the title last season without Edwin van der Sar; and Spain wouldn’t have won the World Cup without Casillas. Every team that won titles, has a keeper who is steady and made very little mistakes. Even for a team like Barcelona, which rely more on scoring goals and enjoys playing attacking football, they wouldn’t have reached the top without Victor Valdes, though many people tend to overlook this fact.

We don’t want to use the word cute, but isn’t it cute for all the City players to wear a shirt like this? It reads I ‘heart’ Manchester, and just so people won’t be confused, Balotelli specifically added ‘City’.

Aguero finally made his debut for City last night, didn’t start but came out at 60 minutes and scored two goals. City fans must be really happy to see that and both Manchester teams secure 3 points in their first league games.

Picture of The Day: Good Luck, Fabregas!

barce_fabregas(zimbio)

We are sure this is a bittersweet moment to a lot of people, the longest transfer saga has finally came to an end. For those who had followed the news closely must have this mixed feeling, wanted Fabregas to go back home, at the same time hoped he could stay in Arsenal.

Match to Catch: Real Madrid vs Barcelona

No, we are not going to get into the Fabragas saga. Okay, maybe a little. There are still no official statements from either side that tell us about Fabragas’ future. But from the interactions of the trio (i.e. Puyol, Pique and Fabregas) on Twitter, we assumed that Cesc will be back in Barcelona very soon, if not already.

Feature: The Goods and Bads of Pre-season Tours

As all the teams are already back home preparing for the Leagues to begin, I think this is just the right time to talk about pre-season tours. Obviously, it is the commercialization of football that leads to all these pre-season tours. Players now, have to travel across continents to ‘prepare’ for the new season. These tours do in a way, benefit the clubs, mostly in terms of popularity, finance, but when it comes to preparing the club for a new season, well, not so much, in my opinion. Let’s break it down here:

Feature: Why Hong Kong Football Needs More Support Than Booing?

In the recent Barclays Asia Trophy, I have heard different voices on Hong Kong football. It is understandable that the England press said something like, Torres is definitely going to score against Kitchee, because it simply looked very easy to put the ball in the back of Kitchee's net (But he ended up scoring his precious goal against Aston Villa). Yes, our team is not good enough to play against English clubs and we are not going to argue on that. But what I don't understand is, friends went to the stadium and came back telling me many Hong Kong people were criticizing Kitchee throughout the game.

Goodbye van der Sar

We don’t like to see great players retire :( , but this is inevitable in the football world. Edwin van der Sar’s testimonial had finished last night and this is the real goodbye.

Picture of the Day: Klinsmann Takes Charge of USMNT

We are still upset about Bradley’s departure, after what he had achieved with the US men’s national team. But Klinsmann can just be the better coach for USA. The German team tactic and style appear to fit right in with the USA team, as they don’t emphasize on individual players, but collective outcomes as a team. Sorry to say this but the US team does not has a player that can really stand out, so a disciplined team can be the way for them to success.

Klinsmann said he will try to finalize the team for August 10, a friendly against Mexico, in these two days. Let’s see what he has for us.

Dear Liverpool: Goals You Scored not Enough to Cover Goals You Lost

Picture of the Day: New York Red Bulls won Emirates Cup

henry(zimbio_getty)
We enjoy moments like this, when a great player returns, he receives warm welcomes from fans. Football fans don’t forget their heroes. Last night Arsenal vs Red Bulls’ game was a sentimental one, when Henry came close to the goal post, the whole stadium was cheering for him, although he was playing against Arsenal.

We saw him exchanged a few words with Nasri after the match, may be Henry was telling him, if you leave now, you may not get this when you return? ;)

Wilshere was replaced at 7 minutes of the game, due to an ankle situation, there will be a scan later today and he will probably update you guys on his twitter. Captain Persie scored for Arsenal yesterday and Arsenal’s youngster K.Bartley got an equalizer for Red Bulls.

Book Review: Messi

Messi BookBook Title: Messi: The Inside Story of The Boy who Became a Legend

Author: Luca Caioli (He also wrote two other biographies, one on Torres, another one on Fabregas)

What is it about: Basically everything about Messi. It talks about Messi and football, from how he started his football career, till how he got to Barcelona and how he becomes a star (mostly on his life before becoming star). If you are a Messi fan, you will definitely like this book, because it touches on the other side of Messi, the side that is not under the spot light. It wasn’t just purely the author’s own narration, the book included interviews with people who know Messi personally, his family members, his coaches, his friends, even his enemies. It mentions the hardship in his life, his illness, his failures, even Messi is one of the best players now, he gets there with lots of hard work. A book that tells you a lot of things about Messi that you probably didn’t know.
