Guangdong-Hong Kong Cup 1st Leg: Hong Kong 2-2 Guangdong

Although Hong Kong stadium wasn’t full last night, the atmosphere was awesome. Hong Kong fans never stop cheering for their team and when the team scored, a lot of people stand up and applauded. The atmosphere had made my friend who entered the stadium for the first time, feeling warm and excited. For me and other friends who didn’t watch Hong Kong football for quite some times, we felt the excitements and were cheering with everyone else as well.

Sealy started the game as right-back and played for 90 minutes full. Decent performances by the defender, he did his job pretty well and did some good tackles. Godfred too, started the game and continued his outstanding performance. Been running at the front all night, giving pressure to the opponents. He scored the second goal for Hong Kong team and helped the team took the lead but was destroyed later when Guangdong scored their second goal. When he was replaced by Mckee, many people stood up and applauded. As for Mckee, it was his first time representing Hong Kong as well. Too bad that he was being kept on the bench and only played for awhile after he replaced Godfred at 88 min. The game ended with a 2-2 scoreline.

Our team didn’t manage to win but has received many good comments. The counterattacks were effective. Godfred and Mckee were both famous for their speed, so I believe after some times when they know the team and their teammates better, counterattack can be a powerful weapon of the team. As for the defense, it can be better especially when dealing with freekicks.

Goalscorers: Tan Binliang, Huang Fengtao; Cheng Siu Wai, Godfred Karikari

Second leg will be held in Guangchou, on 1st January, at 3pm. For supporters who cannot be in China, you can watch it on TV, live.
