Real Madrid: From Heaven to Hell

I was just about to sit down in front of the TV right after kick off, haven’t even sat properly and there came the Benzema goal. Surely no one really saw that coming. Firstly, it was fast, the fastest El Clasico goal ever. Secondly, it was a horrible mistake by Victor Valdes. He passed the ball to a Madrid player at their own half.

Cousin joined me a minute later, rubbing his eye, he always believes for games like this, it is smarter to wake up a few minutes after kick off. According to him, ‘nothing will happen at the early stage.’ So I said to him when he joined me in the living room, ‘You missed a goal.’ And he was fully awake after hearing that sentence.

Real Madrid has a good first half, and I have to say, they are not as rough as before. They worked hard, they created chances, you can see Mourinho has transformed them into a different team. To a point Barcelona has to foul or dive just to stop Madrid’s procession of the ball. Messi could have seen a second yellow in the first half but he got lucky there. Anyway, Sanchez (or mostly known as Alexis now) scored the equalizer for Barcelona.

Second half, Barcelona and Real Madrid both came out a different team. Madrid was not as threatening as before and Barcelona started to get back into the game. Xavi’s shot was deflected and went into the back of the net, still not sure if it counts as Xavi’s goal or a Marcelo own goal though? Later the on fire Fabregas added one more goal and secured the 3 points for Barcelona. Oh, and let’s not forget Ronaldo had missed quite a few chances.

Now Barcelona is at the top of the table, 37 points. Real Madrid has 37 points too, and played just 15 games, one game less than Barcelona. La Liga table stays competitive. I could say if Messi were sent off, then the result may be different, but this is football. Referees are considered a part of the game as well. So I guess I shall just work more on my prediction (aka psychic) skills. ;)
