Weekend Sum-up: Barcelona Crashed and more…

Another eventful weekend had passed. La Liga title run seems to have come to an end, whereas City seems to stand a chance in winning Premier League title again after the surprising outcome between Man Utd and Everton. Reading has confirmed their promotion to Premier League next season but who will be the second team joining Reading for a direct promotion? Kitchee looking good in claiming the title but will Pegasus turn it around after losing two games in a row?

In La Liga…

All eyes were on El Clasico during the weekend as people all know whoever win this game, will probably win the Li Liga too. The game wasn’t as exciting as people expected, not as many dramas as the past games, no red cards, no fight, just pure football. Barcelona, in my opinion, did not use their strongest team as Fabregas and Alexis Sanchez were both on the bench. Seems like Guadiola wanted to rest them and prepare for the second leg with Chelsea.

As the game progressed and Real Madrid scored, Guadiola finally decided to make his move, replacing Xavi with Sanchez and showed immediate effect. Later Fabregas was also in to replace Tello, who didn’t perform very well that night. However, these changes couldn’t change the scoreline. The game ended with 1-2 and the title run for Barcelona is probably over!

In Premier League…

Well well, this is what Premier League is about, never stop surprising you. Just as everyone thought Man Utd should be safe on reclaiming the title, they were defeated by Wigan and drew with Everton. The game with Everton isn’t just a usual draw, it was a shocking one, a 4-4 draw, which pretty much reminds us of the game between Newcastle and Arsenal.

It was Everton who took the lead first when Jelavic scored their first goal at 33rd minute. Later Man Utd fought back and at one point United was leading 3-1, then 4-2. But when the referee blew the final whistle. It was 4-4. 6 goals in the second half. What a crazy game.

In Championship…

Although only managed to get one point in the game against Crystal Palace, Reading has confirmed direct promotion to the Premier League next season. On the other hand, West Ham and Southampton are fighting for the second place to get themselves off the play-offs. There is only one game left and West Ham is two points behind Southampton. Southampton will play Coventry in the last game and West Ham will play Hull.

In Hong Kong League…

Kitchee is leading the table by one point now as they have beaten Citizen last week. Although Kitchee has to manage both Local League games and AFC Cup, they seem to have adjusted quite well and AFC Cup has helped to bring out their best. There are two league games left, against Tuen Mun and Rangers, which is probably not hard for Kitchee to secure 6 points.

TSW Pegasus played against South China on Sunday, and was trashed by them. Without Ng Wai Chiu at the back, plus Lee Hong Lim is injured were probably the main reasons that lead to their 4-0 defeat. Pegasus still needs to fight Tai Po and Sun Hei in the upcoming games. Yes, they maybe just one point behind Kitchee but if they want to win the title, they have to pray for Kitchee to lose some points first.
