Yes yes, the 2011 FIFA Ballon d’Or is just around the corner and the 23-man shortlist was just released. No doubt that Messi, Ronaldo are both in the running and we are not surprised that Barcelona players have dominated the list, there are all together 8 of them on the list:

FIFA Ballon d'Or men's shortlist: Éric Abidal, Sergio Agüero, Karim Benzema, Iker Casillas, Cristiano Ronaldo, Dani Alves, Samuel Eto'o, Cesc Fàbregas, Diego Forlán, Andrés Iniesta, Lionel Messi, Thomas Müller, Nani, Neymar, Mesut Özil, Gerard Piqué, Wayne Rooney, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Wesley Sneijder, Luis Suárez, David Villa, Xabi Alonso, Xavi.

The ‘bolded’ players are obviously everyone’s favorite and we think they will and they deserve to get into the final three, but the blue ones are players that we think may have a chance to get into the final three as well, they may not be the favorites, yet they have been outstanding and have done so much for their clubs and national teams as well. The final three will be announced on 5th December.
