TSW Pegasus vs Sham Shui Po: Mckee Scores Hat-trick in Extra Time

TSW Pegasus, Jaimes Mckee

We have seen many hat-tricks in football, but hat-trick during extra time, is rare, extremely rare. So when Pegasus player, Jaimes Mckee scored hat-trick during extra time to bring his team into semi-final, the whole stadium was heated up.

The past Saturday and Sunday were match day for Halewinner League Cup. All games were played in Mong Kok stadium. TSW Pegasus against Sham Shui Po and SCAA against Tai Po on Saturday; Sun Hei against Citizen and Kitchee against Tuen Mun on Sunday, but the most exciting game is definitely, Pegasus-Sham Shui Po.

Most people probably thought Pegasus could win the game easily, especially when Lee Hong Lim scored an early goal at the second minute of the game. However, dominating the game didn’t bring Pegasus a second goal in the remaining time. Instead, Sham Shui Po found a way to beat Pagasus goalkeeper, Takada, near the end of the first half. It was a reward for Sham Shui Po as they never stopped trying.

With this 1-1 scoreline, Pegasus came out determined to get their second goal. Mckee had a close one when Godfred sent in a cross, he reached for the ball and shot immediately. Yet, the ball ended up hitting the goal post. As both side didn’t manage to score any more goals, the game went into extra time.

As the paces went slower, it wasn’t hard to tell the players’ physical strength had nearly reached its limits. Both sides started to make more mistakes but Pegasus managed to create more chances, keep pressing at Sham Shui Po’s defense. Just two minutes into extra time, Mckee scored a header when his teammate sent in a cross. The goal post failed to stop the ball this time. Pegasus having one goal lead, but they didn’t stop attacking as Sham Shui Po’s defenders started to show signs of tiredness. At 119th minute, just before the end of extra time, Mckee scored another goal, beating the defender with his speed. This goal is enough to send Pegasus into semi-final. But with the advantage of his speed and physical strength, Mckee managed to score another goal just before referee blows the final whistle.

Not only his first hat-trick for Pegasus, it was also his first hat-trick since he started playing in the first division. And let’s not forget scoring hat-trick during extra time is very rare. When we talked to Mckee after the game, he also expressed his excitements scoring such an important hat-trick for Pegasus, “It’s nice to score my first hat-trick for Pegasus. Very happy. Very happy.” Yes, we can imagine how happy you are. ;) He also promised he will work on scoring hat-trick in 90 minutes and has confident that Pegasus can get into League Cup finals as they have a good team and have been doing well in the league this season.

TSW Pegasus will play Citizen in the semi-finals and SCAA will play Kitchee in the semi-finals.
