Pre-Season Tour: Gunners to set Bukit Jalil on Fire

Arsenl in Malaysia

Behold fellow Gooners, the Gunners have finally touched down in Kuala Lumpur, kicking off their pre-season Asia tour. We were very lucky to be invited by the ProEvents, the promoter of the tour, to attend the Arrival Press Conference.

Like last year, Arsenal will be playing against Malaysian XI team at the National Stadium, Bukit Jalil on the 24th of July. The match will begin at 9:45pm local time. This year, the entourage who came along for this tour includes Wojciech Szczesny, Theo Walcott, Thomas Vermaelen, AlexOxlade-Chamberlain, Alex Song, Mikel Arteta, Andre Santos, Gervinho, Kieran Gibbs and etc. No, van Persie is no where to be seen which kind of reminded us of Fabregas last year and how he ended up leaving Arsenal.

Graced by Arsene Wenger and Malaysia’s national chief coach Datuk K. Rajagobal, we can feel that there are some sparks going on between them indirectly. Wenger joked that he would like to congratulate Rajagobal for “surviving and for still being in charge of the team even after the 4-0 lost last year”.

Responding with matched wit, Rajagpbal replied that he “must be good and doing something right” to be able to be involved and maintain his position in the Malaysia team since 2004.

Besides the big bosses and beautiful stewardess of Emirates, two young bloods of Arsenal, Wojciech Szczesny and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain were at the press conference too. Chambo, in particularly was surprised by the overwhelming welcome by the fans. (There were about 5000 fans who welcomed them at the Saujana Hotel)

Apparently, the boys have been gossiping some good stuff about Malaysia behind our backs! Chambo who was not part of the entourage last year, was anticipating the Kuala Lumpur tour after hearing stories from his teammates.

With two more days to D-Day, we hope that Arsenal will have a great time at KL and a memorable match with the Malaysian XI team. For more coverage, please stay tune to our blog!

Special Thanks to our representative at Malaysia!
